Material Cultures

Material Cultures is a companion piece to BRIC’s Material Cultures group exhibition (Sept. 7, 2016 – Oct. 23, 2016) which features the work of eight contemporary visual artists who engage with and respond to essential elements of textile: weaving, pattern, draping, embellishing, and wearing. The Material Cultures book features tactile photographs documenting the artists’ relationships to their materials and essays expanding upon the artists’ concepts and formative histories which have informed their material choices.
